This is an outstanding opportunity for you to join our thoroughly innovative team at Gulf Christian College, Normanton, North Queensland.  You will enjoy the lifestyle experience of ‘Outback Australia’ in a friendly small school environment.

We are a Prep to Year 9 school of 100 amazing students.

The successful applicant will be required to have one of the following qualifications or be willing to commence training in one of these areas:

  • Cert IV in Youth Work, or
  • Cert IV in Pastoral Care; or
  • Cert IV in Chaplaincy and Pastoral Care; or
  • An equivalent qualification that includes competencies in ‘mental health’ and ‘making appropriate referrals’.

You will be required to demonstrate a high-level whole school approach to pastoral care towards all students.  Our Christian environment provides the best preparation for our students to fulfil their potential individually and as part of the wider community in which they live and serve.

This position will lead and assist in organising all weekly Chapel services, participate in College camps/excursions/events, provide guidance to and monitor the wellbeing of students, including student behaviour management, plan and operate a variety of age-appropriate specialist student groups, as well as being a positive role model in the daily life of our College community.

This position will be full-time, working Mondays to Fridays from 8.00am to 3.30pm, including working during school holiday periods.  Commencement will be Term 1, 2023.  Essential elements would include a current Working with Children Card and First Aid qualifications.
