About the Opportunity and Positions

We are seeking enthusiastic and visionary Primary Teachers to join our committed and supportive team from Term 1, 2027. These are full-time positions within our vibrant primary school, where strong relationships and engaging learning are at the heart of our work.

Our positions available include:

  • Primary Teacher Librarian (6 mth contract – Sem 1, 2027)
  • Lower Primary Teacher

Key Responsibilities of the Teacher Librarian Role:

  • Library Program Delivery – Plan and deliver engaging library lessons for students from Prep to Year 6, fostering a love of reading, inquiry, and information literacy.
  • Library Management – Oversee the day-to-day operation of the College’s primary library, including cataloguing, circulation, and maintenance of library resources. (small scale)
  • Curriculum and Teaching Excellence – Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the Australian Curriculum, contemporary teaching practices, and effective pedagogy, together with a strong commitment to Christian Education, the integration of Indigenous perspectives, and the College’s values.
  • Christian Education – Integrate a Christian worldview into teaching and learning programs, modelling Christian values and actively supporting the mission and ethos of the College.
  • Fixed-Term Appointment – This position is offered as a six-month contract, commencing in Semester 1, 2027, to cover a period of Long Service Leave for the current Teacher Librarian.  There is a possible option to extend further.

Key Responsibilities of the Lower Primary Teacher Role:

  • Classroom Teaching and Learning – Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality learning programs that meet the diverse academic, social, emotional, and spiritual needs of Lower Primary students.
  • Australian Curriculum – Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the Australian Curriculum, contemporary teaching practices, and effective pedagogy, together with a strong commitment to Christian Education, the integration of Indigenous perspectives, and the College’s values.
  • Student Wellbeing and Pastoral Care – Foster a positive and inclusive classroom culture that promotes student wellbeing, resilience, positive behaviour, and a love of learning.
  • Christian Education – Integrate a Christian worldview into teaching and learning programs, modelling Christian values and actively supporting the mission and ethos of the College.
  • Parent and Community Partnerships – Develop and maintain positive relationships with parents and carers, providing regular communication regarding student progress, wellbeing, and engagement.

About the Learning Enrichment Teacher Role

  • NCCD – possess expertise in the NCCD processes within a whole secondary school department, working with teaching staff to ensure maximum funding is accessible by the College to support students
  • Australian Curriculum – Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the Australian Curriculum, contemporary teaching practices, and effective pedagogy, together with a strong commitment to Christian Education, the integration of Indigenous perspectives, and the College’s values.
  • Learning Strategies – communication and support for our whole teaching team regarding developing learning strategies and programs for students with needs
  • Whole school involvement – you will work with and have oversight over our current Learning Enrichment Teacher (based at our Primary School), however working predominantly with secondary students, whilst having a good understanding of all students in the College.

About the Sports & PE Teacher Role

  • Lead and coordinate the delivery of all Primary and Secondary Physical Education programsensuring Australian Curriculum alignment, high-quality teaching practices and pedagogy, a strong commitment to Christian education, integration of Indigenous perspectives and positive student engagement in physical activity.
  • Manage and oversee the school’s sporting program, including interschool competitions, carnivals, representative pathways, coaching appointments, team selections, and event logistics.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with sporting organisations and community groups to enhance student participation opportunities, promote wellbeing, and strengthen pathways for talent development.
  • Coordinate risk management, compliance, and operational requirements for sport and PE activities, including staff supervision, equipment management, venue bookings, budgeting, and adherence to child safety and workplace health and safety standards.

Are you an experienced school receptionist looking for a fresh professional challenge—and a touch of adventure? Gulf Christian College is seeking a capable and welcoming College Receptionist to support our new Secondary School Campus in Normanton, assisting students, staff, families and the wider community.

This is a full‑time position, ideal for someone who thrives in a busy school environment, enjoys being the first point of contact, and is keen to experience life in a unique and remote community.


About the Role

The College Receptionist plays a key role in the daily operations of the school, providing high-quality administrative and secretarial support to the Principal while ensuring the efficient and professional running of the school office.


About You

The successful applicant will bring:

  1. Demonstrated experience working in a busy school or similar office environment
  2. Strong organisational and time management skills
  3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  4. Confidence in using the Microsoft Office Suite
  5. A current First Aid qualification (or willingness to obtain one)
  6. A warm, professional manner and a genuine care for young people, with the ability to model and support the Christian faith, values, and mission of the College
  7. The ability to uphold professional boundaries and work collaboratively within a team
  8. A current Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
